GCNS organised an exclusive, closed-door dialogue with the Minister for Manpower, Mrs Josephine Teo on 18 July, 2018 at the SBF Center.
The purpose of the dialogue was to provide a platform for business leaders to engage in a candid dialogue with Minister Josephine Teo to better understand the Government’s strategic direction and policies on manpower and labour. The dialogue also included discussion towards the achievement of the 8th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of “Decent Work and Economic Growth", and to promote sustainability as a means to make Singapore's workforce more employable and relevant.
The event was well attended by over 40 C-Suite representatives and Human Resources senior executives from leading Singapore MNCs, SMEs and representatives from Trade Unions.
During the dialogue, Minister Teo discussed the strategic direction on foreign labour policies vis-a-vis balancing the employment needs of Singaporeans. She also highlighted the importance of transferring global expertise to enhance the skills of Singaporeans. Other issues pertaining to emerging industry skillsets required and re-skilling of mature PMETs were also raised.
We would like to express our thanks to Mrs Josephine Teo for making the time to be with us for this dialogue and providing our members with the government’s strategic insights on manpower. We would like to specially thank our Principal Members, Management Committee members, Gold Donors and Corporate members for making the event a success.
