We know that climate change is risky business. According to a recent World Economic Forum survey, the failure to mitigate and adapt to climate change tops the list of threats to the global economy. What will propel radical global action to stave off environmental catastrophe and an economic meltdown?
On 25 April, representatives from Unilever, Singapore Management University, Earth Hour and the French Embassy in Singapore gathered and debated on this topic at the filming of Channel NewsAsia’s Perspectives.
One take-away message for businesses at the discussion was a point made by Mr David Kiu, Management Committee member of Global Compact and Vice President of Sustainability & Communications at Unilever, who said that businesses must treat climate change as a business challenge and take the long term perspective as the “price of inaction is higher than the price of action”.
