In 2017, NTUC and GCNS signed an MOU to launch the GCNS Sustainability Programmes - consisting of the Sustainability Internship Programme (SIP) and Sustainability Professionals Programme (SPP). The programmes target youth and PMETs respectively to prepare individuals to transition to the rising demand for sustainability professionals.

The first run of SIP began in late 2017, resulting in five youths securing internships and two youths landing full-time jobs in the sustainability sector. In 2018, the first run of SPP was implemented, comprising 18 PMETs across diverse industries.

On 17 March 2018, we graduated our first cohort of SIP participants and appointed the first cohort of SPP participants. The participants were presented with their certificates by Mr Chan Chun Sing, Secretary-General, NTUC and Minister, Prime Minister's Office.

SIP was made possible with the support of Young NTUC, National Environment Agency and the National Youth Council. SPP was made possible with the support of NTUC U Associate and Employment & Employability Institute of Singapore.
