About the Global Compact Network Singapore Summit 2017

The annual Global Compact Network Singapore Summit is a platform of advocacy, capacity building and networking for sustainability and CSR practitioners to come together and gain insights into the latest global corporate sustainability trends.

This year, the theme is on “Better Businesses Together for the Future Economy”.  Whether you are an experienced sustainability practitioner or just about to embark on your sustainability journey, you will find the discussions and networking opportunities meaningful and useful to your area of work.

Topics covered at the Summit will explore the latest in sustainability trends. Speakers will also share best practices, the sustainability landscape in Singapore and how it affects businesses locally.

About the GCNS Youth Forum 2017

 

The GCNS Youth Forum (also known as the Youth Forum) is a by youths for youths initiative. With GCNS’ mission in mind, the Youth Forum aims to engage youths to champion idea of CSR and corporate sustainability through direct involvement in both the planning and execution of the event. By getting youths involved in the planning, it provides a platform to better understand the trends and issues pertaining to CSR and Corporate Sustainability that the Singapore youths are seeking to better understand. GCNS works closely with the Youth Organising Committee (YOC) on the conceptualising and execution of the Youth Forum. Through the Youth Forum, in addition to meeting the greater objective of creating awareness of CSR and Corporate Sustainability in youths, GCNS is looking to develop the YOC into mentors for the next batch of YOC, as well as becoming part of a trained CSR and Corporate Sustainability talent pool.

Sustainability Internship Programme (SIP)

Sustainability Internship Programme (SIP) is a youth initiative by Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) that has clear objectives of developing our youth talent pool to meet the increase in green job demands and create career prospects in the area of sustainability. This internship programme focuses on nurturing and training youths on Corporate Sustainability matters and to look at it as a prospective career to help shape the national sustainability agenda in the private sector. Through the internship programme, we aim to create a pool of young sustainability professionals that is ready for the workforce.

Interested participants would have to attend a compulsory 2-day training workshop. The training workshop will equip participants with basic Sustainability knowledge.

Dates: 28th & 29th October 2017 (Saturday & Sunday)
Time: 9.30am - 5.00pm

Interns under the SIP would need to commit to an internship period of at least 12 weeks or more. Interns would also have to complete one of the following during the internship period (The company will decide which of the 3 the intern has to complete)

  • Sustainability Report
  • New/ improved sustainability policy in the organisation
  • Existing projects/initiatives in the organisation
