About the Global Compact Network Singapore Summit 2017

The annual Global Compact Network Singapore Summit is a platform of advocacy, capacity building and networking for sustainability and CSR practitioners to come together and gain insights into the latest global corporate sustainability trends.

This year, the theme is on “Better Businesses Together for the Future Economy”.  Whether you are an experienced sustainability practitioner or just about to embark on your sustainability journey, you will find the discussions and networking opportunities meaningful and useful to your area of work.

Sustainability Internship Programme (SIP)

Sustainability Internship Programme (SIP) is a youth initiative by Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS) that has clear objectives of developing our youth talent pool to meet the increase in green job demands and create career prospects in the area of sustainability. This internship programme focuses on nurturing and training youths on Corporate Sustainability matters and to look at it as a prospective career to help shape the national sustainability agenda in the private sector. Through the internship programme, we aim to create a pool of young sustainability professionals that is ready for the workforce.

Interested participants would have to attend a compulsory 2-day training workshop. The training workshop will equip participants with basic Sustainability knowledge.

Youths that participates in this programme will have to (i) attend a compulsory 2 day training workshop and (ii) commit to an internship period of at least 12 weeks or more, and (iii) embark on the Young NTUC U Heart Project. The U Heart Start-up Fund serves to empower youth volunteers aged 35 years old and below to initiate do-good projects to give back to the society. U Heart Start-up Fund is a first dollar funding capped at $1000.00 per project basis.

About the GCNS Youth Forum 2017

 

The GCNS Youth Forum (also known as the Youth Forum) is a by youths for youths initiative. With GCNS’ mission in mind, the Youth Forum aims to engage youths to champion idea of CSR and corporate sustainability through direct involvement in both the planning and execution of the event. By getting youths involved in the planning, it provides a platform to better understand the trends and issues pertaining to CSR and Corporate Sustainability that the Singapore youths are seeking to better understand. GCNS works closely with the Youth Organising Committee (YOC) on the conceptualising and execution of the Youth Forum. Through the Youth Forum, in addition to meeting the greater objective of creating awareness of CSR and Corporate Sustainability in youths, GCNS is looking to develop the YOC into mentors for the next batch of YOC, as well as becoming part of a trained CSR and Corporate Sustainability talent pool.

Young SDG Leaders Horizontal

 

Are you aspiring to drive change in our society and accelerate businesses’ commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? If you believe that businesses can do good for the community and the environment while doing well financially, the CDL-GCNS Young SDG Leaders Awards 2018 is for you!

Jointly organised by City Developments Limited (CDL) and Global Compact Network Singapore (GCNS), this annual case competition offers young people a platform to champion sustainable development and SDG integration into business for positive change.

 

Previously known as the CDL-GCNS Young CSR Leaders Award, the competition has nurtured over 1000 young leaders since it started in 2011. This year, aligning with the global goals for sustainable development, the Award seeks to educate and empower young leaders with SDG knowledge and skills, while inspiring companies in Singapore to take actions for the SDGs.

 

WHO CAN BE YOUNG SDG LEADERS?

Students from 17 to 25 years old are welcome to form teams of three to five members. Participants should be Singaporeans, Permanent Residents or Student Pass holders currently enrolled at Junior Colleges, Institute of Technical Education, Polytechnics, Universities and International Schools in Singapore.

 

Participating teams will be required to submit a proposal on a pre-determined company case based on the following requirements:

  • Analyse the company’s existing sustainability strategy, focusing on how the SDGs can be integrated into its operations and initiatives;
  • Suggest how the company can better align their strategies with SDGs, as well as measure and manage their contribution to achieve these SDGs; and
  •  Identify at least 3 SDGs that are most relevant to the company and new opportunities / innovations to support the advancement of these identified SDGs.

 

RECOGNITION AND CASH PRIZES

Winners and finalists will receive attractive cash prizes. Prizes and certificates will be given out at an award ceremony at the 2018 GCNS Summit organised by the Global Compact Network Singapore in November 2018.

1st Prize: $10,000

2nd Prize: $4,000

3rd Prize: $2,000

Finalist teams: $500
